Campfire Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts


  • 1 can whole water chestnuts
  • soy sauce to cover
  • 1 package bacon
  • foil tray
  • aluminum foil


  1. Drain the water chestnuts.
  2. Cover them in soy sauce and allow them to soak for several hours. (see note below)*
  3. Cut each piece of bacon in half widthwise.
  4. Wrap each water chestnut in bacon and place in a foil baking tray.
  5. Cover the tray in foil and place on the grill over the campfire until the bacon is crisp.
  6. Optional: Serve with toothpicks.

Recipe Notes

When I make bacon wrapped water chestnuts at home, I soak the water chestnuts in soy sauce in a bowl, but when we're camping, I just soak them right in the can.
