Wash and dry the cucumber. Slice them each into 6 thin strips lengthwise. Lay them flat.
In a medium sized bowl, mix together the cream cheese, a pinch of pepper, and some fresh dill. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto each cucumber slice.
Place one piece of smoked salmon on each cucumber slice near the one end. Roll the cucumber slice up starting on that side.
Stand the cucumber rolls up and garnish each one with a sprig of fresh dill and a thin slice of purple onion. Serve immediately.
