I tend to always make the same spreads to serve at parties. While they are crowd pleasers, they can be a bit boring after awhile so I like to change it up from time to time and this is an example of a dip that I make when I’m tired of making the usual ones.
Mix together 1/8 tsp. cumin and 1/2 cup of hummus. You can use homemade hummus or store bought. I usually use store bought hummus for this recipe (insert gasp here!) because I figure that if I’m going to go to all the trouble of making hummus myself, I really want people to be able to taste the full flavours!
Spread that onto a plate or serving platter. Top with 1 large tomato, seeded and cubed, 1/3 of a large English cucumber, diced (you can peel it or leave the skin on – I prefer leaving the skin on for the colour), and about 1/3 of a purple onion, diced.
At this point, your plate will look all colourful and beautiful and you can take a minute to admire your artwork.
Sprinkle with feta cheese, pepper, oregano, parsley, and sliced black olives. This is a nice healthy appetizer.
As for the rest of that cucumber, you can use it to make Tzatziki or Goat Cheese Topped Cucumbers. Depending on the size of your cucumber, you may even be able to make both! I love it when I can use the same ingredients to make multiple appetizers to serve at a get-together.
Serve the dip with pita wedges or pita chips. Your pita wedges can do double duty if you also serve some tzatziki or hummus at the same party.
If you’re wanting to serve this as a gluten free option, offer an alternative to the pita chips such as gluten free crackers or tortilla chips.

Thanks Jess!
Yum! I’ve been looking for something like this! Pinning…
mmmm you’re speaking my language. Humus and feta. I would have to replace the tomatoes with peppers, but I can taste it already. Thinking I might have to go pick up some humus.
Thanks for sharing at The Weekend Social, I’m looking forward to seeing you again next Thursday at 9pm EST at http://www.thequestionablehomesteader.com for another installment of The Weekend Social.
I don’t know each of the ingredients as they might have different names here. However, it looks very yummy. The pictures are awesome. I might try one if I knew each ingredients. Thank yo for stopping by.
